The qualification aims to transform and enhance the learners with concrete knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a managerial level. The underlying principle of the course is to ensure a career path for learners who wish to build their care capacities within the health and social care department. OTHM qualifications at RQF Level 5 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diploma (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree. Learners will acquire care management practical skills in the Health and Social Care sector given by insight knowledge and understanding in their program.
The qualification is also fit for the part-time learners in the workplace but yet eligible for full-time learners who can involve informal work placements or part-time employment. The learners can advance into or within employment in the health and social sector, either directly by the achievement of the awards or following study to further degree level.
OTHM Qualifications are approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and recognised by Qualifications Wales.
